US News and World Report Names St Francis Hospital The Heart Center Among Nations Top Cardiac Programs
St. Francis is the Sole Long Island Hospital Named In Magazine’s July 28 Issue Ranking "America’s Best Hospitals"
ROSLYN, NY – U.S. News & World Report has named St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center® in Roslyn (Long Island, NY) among the best cardiac specialty programs in the United States in the magazine’s July 28 edition.
St. Francis Hospital is the only Long Island hospital (Nassau and Suffolk counties) named in the annual "America’s Best Hospitals" edition, which this year highlights 203 hospitals nationwide in 17 categories. St. Francis, New York State’s only specialty-designated cardiac center, is ranked number 29 on the list of 50 hospital-based cardiac programs nationwide, and is the sixth highest ranked program in the Northeast.
"St. Francis Hospital has a tradition of providing high quality cardiac care, including services for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and research of heart disease, to its patients," said Alan D. Guerci, M.D., President & CEO, St. Francis Hospital. "To be one of only three New York hospitals and the only hospital on Long Island to attain this recognition from U.S. News & World Report affirms St. Francis Hospital’s standing among the nation’s leading medical centers."
The "America’s Best Hospitals" ranking follows a methodology devised by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago. It considers data on risk-mortality, caseload, medical technology, and other case-related factors such as nursing.
St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center® is New York State’s only specialty-designated cardiac center. It performs more cardiac procedures than any other hospital in the Northeast, and is the only hospital on Long Island with risk-adjusted mortality rates for both coronary artery bypass surgery and angioplasty that are significantly lower than the statewide average (New York State Department of Health).
