St. Francis Hospital’s mission is to be the national leader in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. The Research Department of St. Francis Hospital fulfills this mission through the advancement of scientific knowledge.
This knowledge has been translated into improved methods for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease through the following ways:
- Development of new non-invasive cardiac imaging methods capable of changing and enhacing cardiovascular care: cardiac MRI, cardiac and CT Angiography, coronary calcium score, 3-D echocardiography and nuclear scanning.
- Development of novel interventions for the treatment of heart disease including coronary artery disease and cardiac arrhythmias.
- Leadership and participation in multimember trials of promising new treatments for cardiovascular disease.
- Participation in studies evaluating innovative strategies for the treatment of carotid artery disease.
