Our department utilizes the latest technology in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery. Not only do we perform the basic surgeries, including tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy and myringotomy in children, but our physicians are well trained in more complex surgeries as well.
Over the past ten years, sinus surgery has undergone many improvements using Image Guided Technology consisting of CAT scans integrated with computer technology. St. Francis Hospital is at the forefront of these advances and our surgeons are well trained in the newest techniques.
Our staff includes highly trained head and neck surgeons who treat disorders of the thyroid, parathyroid, salivary glands and head and neck cancers. We also have physicians who specialize in otologic surgery and treat middle ear disease, including otosclerosis and cholesteatomas.
In addition, our department has Board Certified Plastic Surgeons who perform the latest in facial cosmetic surgeries.

Key Treatments
Sinus Surgery
Using image-guided technology, the sinus surgeons at St. Francis Hospital combine CAT scans and computers to make sinus surgery safer and more efficient. The surgery is usually done as an outpatient procedure using an intranasal approach without any incisions.
Head and Neck Surgery
Head and neck tumors and masses are treated by highly trained
physicians in this department. If patients need to stay overnight they are made very comfortable and are cared for by the exceptional nursing staff.
Ear Surgery
The otolaryngologists at St. Francis Hospital perform many procedures including stapedectomy for otosclerosis, mastoid surgery for chronic middle ear disease and tympanic membrane repairs among others.
Tonsillectomy/Adenoidectomy
The most basic ENT surgical procedure is tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy and is performed here at St. Francis Hospital. Children are cared for by the nursing staff in the immediate post operative period and most children can go home the same day.
Sleep Apnea
Surgery for sleep apnea including uvulopharyngplasty (UVPP) is performed to relieve patients of obstructing tissue that can cause this life threatening problem. Patients are usually kept overnight to monitor their safety.
