CPR
As an American Heart Association Community Training Center, St. Francis Hospital offers CPR classes to all healthcare providers, para-professionals and laypersons. We believe this training is vital in ensuring the best response to sudden medical emergencies and immediate, life-threatening situations in every community.
Basic and advanced classes are provided on a regular basis at our DeMatteis Center with bilingual instruction available upon request. Our courses include:
- Heartsaver First Aid
- Basic First Aid
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS)
We also offer courses in Advanced Life Support (ACLS) and ACLS Renewal for Experienced Providers.
In addition, we are dedicated to providing training in emergency care for children. We offer a Babysitting Course with Pediatric Heartsaver AED (Automated External Defibrillator), so parents, grandparents, siblings and babysitters can learn CPR and first aid basics for infants and toddlers. Other courses include Pediatric Heartsaver for Infant & Child and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Our instructors also provide training for using automated external defibrillators (AEDs), so lay workers can deliver defibrillation. Courses are given throughout the year, along with two free courses in partnership with the Louis J. Acompora Memorial Foundation for personal trainers, athletic coaches and people from all walks of life looking to learn more about this lifesaving device.
