Women’s Heart Program at the DeMatteis Center
Welcome from the Assistant Director
||It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Women’s Heart Program at St. Francis Hospital. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive and an integrated program for management of heart disease in women.
Coronary artery disease is the leading cause of death in women in the United States. Symptoms are often subtle and can be different than those of men. The clinical presentation and management of heart disease pose challenges that are unique to women. Our goal is to take a multi-faceted approach focused on education and early prevention of coronary artery disease in women. Based at the DeMatteis Center for Cardiac Research & Education in Greenvale, we offer state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging and a wide range of wellness programs designed to promote women’s heart health. Please take an opportunity to explore the services we provide. If you have any questions or would like to make an appointment, please give us a call at (516) 622-4555. We would be happy to help guide you on a path to getting the most comprehensive cardiac care for women.
- Madhavi Kadiyala, M.D., Assistant Director of the Women’s Heart Program
The Women’s Heart Program is the latest addition to the Women Center of St. Francis Hospital, an ambulatory facility located at the DeMatteis Center for Cardiac Research & Education on Northern Boulevard in Greenvale.
With the introduction of the Women’s Center in late 1997, St. Francis Hospital made a commitment to the community to provide dedicated health services for female patients in our region.
In light of this ongoing mission, we are now expanding our comprehensive approach to include cardiovascular services for women with a focus on prevention. There is increasing evidence that coronary artery disease in women is different than men with diagnostic challenges unique to women, often resulting in less than adequate treatment.
The Women’s Heart Program is committed to raising awareness, providing resources to the community, and advancing research in this area.
