NFL Hall of Famers Issue Call to Long Island Men to “Know Your Stats” During Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
St. Francis Hospital Hosts Free Prostate Screening on September 22, 2010

WHAT:
St. Francis Hospital will be holding a free prostate screening event on Wednesday, September 22, to encourage men to “Know Your Stats about Prostate Cancer®,” the second-leading cause of cancer death for American men.

Led by Pro Football Hall of Fame player and prostate cancer survivor Mike Haynes, Know Your Stats is a national prostate cancer awareness campaign organized by the American Urological Association (AUA) Foundation and the National Football League (NFL). Now in its second year, the campaign is bringing the message to fans across the country, educating men and their loved ones about the importance of prostate health. Intuitive Surgical proudly supports this community education program.

One in every six American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime, and African American men are more than twice as likely to die from the disease. About 14,600 men in New York are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year.

WHO:
Director of Urology Felix Badillo, M.D., a leading expert in robotic surgery, will be available to discuss the importance of prostate cancer screening, the impact of prostate cancer on American men and the range of available treatment options.

One of his patients, Robert Spina, a prostate cancer survivor, will also be available to discuss his experience with robotic surgery and the importance of screening.
