St. Francis Hospital Appoints Marvin Tenenbaum, M.D. as Director of the Department of Medicine

, October 11, 2007-Marvin Tenenbaum, M.D., an Infectious Diseases Specialist, has been appointed Director of Medicine at St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center. Prior to accepting this new position,Dr. Tenenbaum had been the Chief of Infectious Diseases at the Hospital for 13 years.
Dr. Tenenbaum initially joined the staff of St. Francis as a Consultant in Infectious Diseases in 1984, one year after co-founding North Shore Infectious Disease Consultants, P.C. This consultation practice has since grown to eight physicians.
“Dr. Tenenbaum brings with him a vast experience in the clinical practice of Medicine, in the specialty of Infectious Diseases,” said Jack Soterakis, M.D., and V.P. of Medical Affairs. “He will work together with the physicians of St. Francis to continue the Hospital’s tradition of providing the best care by the most caring.”

A graduate of the Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Tenenbaum continued to do his training there in both Medicine and Infectious Diseases. After serving in the U.S. Public Health Service, he joined the staff of North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset as a Consultant in Infectious Diseases. He also served as President of its Medical Staff.
In addition, Dr. Tenenbaum serves on the Nominating Committee of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, where he previously served as Chairman of its Clinical Affairs Committee..
Dr. Tenenbaum has been an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Cornell Medical College and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at NYU Medical Center. He is the author of numerous papers on Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Tenenbaum lives in Albertson with his wife of 40 years, Suzanne. They have three daughters and two grandsons.
