St. Francis Hospital Appoints New Chief of Joint Replacement in Orthopedic Surgery

Roslyn, NY - St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center® has named Bruce A. Seideman, M.D., Chief of Joint Replacement in its Division of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Seideman was previously Chief of the Joint Replacement Service at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.

“We welcome Dr. Seideman’s surgical expertise as St. Francis continues to gain national recognition as a leader in non-cardiac specialties such as orthopedics,” says Jack Soterakis, M.D., SVP of Medical Affairs. “At a time when demand for joint replacement is increasing, especially among baby boomers, Dr. Seideman will enhance our ability to perform the most effective procedures.”

Dr. Seideman’s areas of expertise include both primary total hip and knee replacement surgery and complex revisions of prior replacements, as well as arthritis and related disorders of the hip and knee. The board certified surgeon helped develop a widely used total hip replacement system and has performed clinical research on knee replacement systems. He has also lectured nationally on various aspects of complex hip and knee replacement surgery.

Dr. Seideman received his medical degree from Albany Medical College. He completed a two-year internship and residency with the Harvard Medical School teaching service at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. He subsequently completed a three-year residency in orthopaedic surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. He was a postgraduate fellow in hip and knee joint replacement at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota until he joined Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset in 1987.

The Brookville resident is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
